Photography

Bruce has been interested and involved in photography since he was 16 and in the early 1990’s had a photography business.  He never got completely away from it, but it became a casual background activity for the last 20 years of his career as he taught high school and then earned a PhD and worked as an educational consultant.  With retirement centered around an active RV lifestyle, he is once again actively engaged in photography, only this time it’s all digital.  Linda is also taking pictures, primarily with her iPad and smartphone, while Bruce still prefers the “35mm SLR” approach to image-making.

At the Escapees RV Club (SKP) 2013 Escapade (national rally) in Gillette, Wyoming we joined the newly formed SKP Photographers BOF, started by Lou & Val Petkus.  (They are also amateur radio operators.)  They organized a small rally/workshop in mid-October 2013 that we attended.  It was held at the Tremont Outdoor Resort in Townsend, Tennessee near the entrance to the Cades Cove area of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park (GSMNP).  The resort has a small “classroom” building with a ceiling mounted projector, a screen, and tables that will accommodate up to 10 participants with laptop computers.  The workshop focused on techniques for image capture (camera use) and post-processing using several different freeware / shareware programs.

Bruce tends to post pictures with his blog entries, and Linda is including photographs of finished/plated dishes with her recipes, but they are often selected as much to illustrate the blog post or recipe as for their inherent photographic qualities.  This page will serve as a portal to photographs as an end in themselves, including image capture equipment, image post-processing software, and an image gallery.
